In the Church, it is called Ordinary Time. At LCS, we call it back to normal or, more poetically, "back in the swing of things."

This past weekend, a trio of Philo (senior +1) students represented LCS at the Fête des Philosophes 2014. The Philosophers Fest was sponsored by the Youth Ministry of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince in honor of the feast day of St. Thomas Aquinas. Philo students from Catholic schools in the Archdiocese were invited to celebrate and discuss the theme, "Crois et Tu Comprendras" (Believe and You Will Understand). Haiti’s Minister of Culture and Communication, Jocelyn Lassègue Marie-Laurence, was in attendance and numbered among the event’s speakers. Marjorie Mombrun, Principal of LCS, and Amanda Gaal, Dean of Students, accompanied the students who entered an essay contest associated with the event.

The students had this to report:

My participation in the celebration was advantageous as much intellectually as socially and culturally. I acquired new knowledge from the speakers and found their messages enlightening. I hope that the theme encouraged the other Philo students in attendance to become people who are willing to struggle for a better future for Haiti as we do at LCS.

The Minister of Culture, Marie-Laurence, discussed with us the importance of faith in the life of a Philo student and how we must always make choices that will determine our future positively. She insisted on the fact that the values we learn in our youth should always be kept and should be used to enlighten our way in the world.

We also started our Spring Season of wall pours. We will do seven seismic reinforcement walls by the end of June. This will leave the third floor to be done over the summer.
