The Play's the Thing
The Louverture Cleary Drama Club, under direction from Second-Year Volunteer, Kristin Soukup, presented an original Kreyòl rendition of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost for the community on Friday.
From right: The Princess, her attendants and Boyet as performed by Nadine Certitude, Loudjina Pierre, Christie St. Croix, Stephanie Garconvil, and Jacob Kelly. Left: Patrice Edouard and Samuel Cange, student directors, opened the show with a prologue. Principal Marjorie Mombrun (LCS '07, pictured left) made a cameo appearance to deliver a moral on the importance of education.
Last week closed with shouts of uproarious laughter, suspense and a moral on the enduring value of education in Louverture Cleary's second performance of Love's Labour's Lost.
Former Volunteer Emily Marquet ('11-'13) debuted the play in the early years of the LCS drama program. This fall, the students felt it was time to undertake the Bard's classic once again. Led by second-year Volunteer Kristin Soukup, the students were largely responsible for the stage management and direction. It was very well-received.
