HPN: Why did you choose medicine as a career?
LCM: I chose medicine because by looking at Haiti’s central system, I see that Haiti needs more and more medical professionals. I would like to be one of them by helping the system to grow.
HPN: What is your role at LCS now as a Junior Staff member?
LCM: At LCS, I am a medical Junior Staff member. I collaborate with the nurse. I assist students and staff who need medical attention, and I am part of the first response team. Also, when there are more complicated cases, I accompany the patients to the hospital.
HPN: What is a lesson you learned as a student at LCS that you continue to use today?
LCM: When I was a student at Louverture Cleary School, one of the lessons that I learned is “What you receive for free, you must give for free [Matthew 10:8].” I use this in my life today. It is one of the reasons I joined the Junior Staff, so I was able to serve the community.
HPN: What are your plans for the future?
LCM: My plans for the future are to become an excellent doctor and also to work with partners to build a hospital in Haiti.
HPN: What are your hopes for the future of Haiti?
LCM: My hopes for the country are for us to have peace and an elected government.
